Editorial Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-20
Verifext publishes educational guides on plagiarism, academic integrity, content originality, and SEO quality. This Editorial Policy explains how we create that content and how we maintain independence from advertisers.
1. Mission
Our editorial mission is to help students, writers, researchers, and publishers understand originality and use our free plagiarism checker responsibly. Articles must be accurate, actionable, and aligned with widely accepted standards for citation and content quality.
2. Who Writes Our Content
Blog posts and static guides are researched and written by the Verifext Editorial Team — subject-matter contributors with experience in academic writing, publishing, and search content strategy. Author attribution appears on each article ("Verifext Editorial Team" unless a named contributor is credited).
3. Research & Fact-Checking
- Primary sources include university honor codes, publisher guidelines, search engine documentation, and peer-reviewed references where applicable
- Claims about detection technology describe our actual implementation — we do not exaggerate capabilities
- Statistics and policy references are verified against original sources before publication
- Articles are reviewed for clarity, logical structure, and internal consistency before release
4. AI-Assisted Writing Policy
We may use AI tools to assist with research outlines, drafting, or formatting. However:
- Every published article undergoes human review and editing before going live
- We do not publish unedited AI output as finished editorial content
- Factual claims, legal references, and tool descriptions are verified by a human editor
- We disclose this policy transparently — we do not present AI-generated text as expert human testimony
Tool vs. Editorial
Our plagiarism scanner is automated software. Our blog is educational journalism. Scan results and editorial advice serve different purposes — see our Disclaimer.
5. Updates & Corrections
When search engine policies, academic standards, or our own product features change, we update affected articles. The "Last updated" date on each post reflects substantive revisions. Readers may report errors via our Contact page — we correct verified mistakes promptly.
6. Advertising Independence
Verifext is supported by Google AdSense and may display sponsored units on some pages. Our editorial team operates independently:
- Advertisers cannot pay for favorable editorial coverage or backlink placement in guides
- Affiliate or sponsored relationships — if introduced in the future — will be clearly labeled
- Editorial recommendations are based on reader value, not ad revenue optimization
- We link to external resources when they genuinely help readers, not for paid placement
7. Originality of Our Content
We do not copy competitor articles or scrape third-party text. Verifext guides are original works. Where we quote external sources, we use quotation marks and attribution. Our own plagiarism checker is used internally as part of quality review for longer pieces.
8. User-Generated Content
Text submitted for plagiarism scans is not published as editorial content. Shareable scan result URLs contain user-submitted text fragments for matching display only — they are not editorial articles and are auto-deleted after 30 days.
